WHO TO WATCH AT THE 2021 GIRO D’ITALIA

The 2021 Giro d’Italia begins in Turin on Saturday, May 8th with FSA and Vision represented by an incredible 5 out of the 19 WorldTour teams at the starting line: EF Education-Nippo, Team Bahrain-Victorious, Team Jumbo-Visma, Team BikeExchange and Team Cofidis. 
The 3,480km ultimate test of endurance begins with a 8.6km individual time trial around the streets of Turin. The race finishes in Milan on Sunday, May 30th with a closing ITT. Summit finishes are to be expected at the Zoncolan and Sega di Ala, while we get a little taste of Strade Bianche during stages 9 and 11 featuring gravel road sections.

EF EDUCATION-NIPPO:


EF Education-Nippo is sending a mixed squad of young guns and seasoned veterans. They’re ready to chase stages and they are ready to get rocking and rolling for what is sure to be a spectacular show. In particular, we will see in action the Colombian climber Jonathan Caicedo, winner of 2020 Etna stage, and Hugh “Huge” Carthy, who reached the final podium some months ago at La Vuelta.

TEAM BAHRAIN-VICTORIOUS:


Team Bahrain-Victorious features experienced athletes like Mikel Landa, Pello Bilbao and Damiano Caruso. Their will aim to reach the final podium, especially with the two Basque climbers of Landa and Bilbao, who already won two previous stages in 2019 edition while riding with FSA parts.

TEAM JUMBO-VISMA:


Team Jumbo-Visma has general classification ambitions at the Giro d'Italia. The New Zealand climber George Bennett is the designated leader within the Dutch formation and is going for a respectable result in the general classification. The team will ride on Cervélo bikes, and the riders will choose FSA/Vision cockpits according with the terrains they will face, especially on hilly stages.

TEAM BIKEEXCHANGE:


As Simon Yates sealed overall victory at the Tour of the Alps this past week, the Team BikeExchange leader’s aim is now firmly on Giro d'Italia, where he'll bid for his second career Grand Tour victory. Being one of the biggest favourite of this edition, he will ride on Bianchi bikes, being able to count on his Vision Metron wheel’s super aero performances during two of the most important stages: the initial and final TT stages.

TEAM COFIDIS:


The French Team Cofidis will be primarily focused on stage wins. Riding on De Rosa bikes equipped with FSA and Vision cockpits and seatposts, the team will be lead by the Italian sprinter, and 2016 Olympic Champion, Elia Viviani, who has already won five Giro stages in 2015 and 2018.
